Air Unity Oct-2024
As part of our ongoing mission to empower essential healthcare workers, Unity Bands will gift 15 pairs of comfortable shoes to healthcare heroes in need at the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (BWMC) on October 28th in a project we’ve labeled ‘Air Unity.’
UMD BWMC is piloting a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Pathway program for a small cohort of current Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), Patient Care Techs (PCTs) and Mental Health Associates (MHAs) looking to advance their careers. This innovative program is run in partnership with Anne Arundel Community College and the Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation. The program creates a straightforward approach for PCAs, PCTs and MHAs to become LPNs. This effort is made possible by the Department of Labor. Each cohort will consist of roughly 15 employees/students. The first cohort of students will commence their program October 28, 2024. The second cohort in February, 2025.
With rising costs of living, essential items like comfortable shoes have become a pressing concern for our low-income healthcare heroes. Recognizing this need, Unity Bands partnered with UM BWMC to launch ‘Air Unity’ – a project providing comfortable shoes to support these healthcare workers during their Pathway program training.
